Nuzak (Prozac generic) causing chronic constipation. Alternative suggestions?

Hello,

Nuzak (generic of Prozac) is working well for my depression, but I have terrible constipation as a side-effect.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar (fluoxetine) antidepressant that
does not cause constipation?

All SSRI's cause constipation? oh well - it's prunes and joghurt for me then.

Maybe you want to try some dried plums. They are very tasty, very nutricious and will help get things moving. The other thing that helps is the probiotic yogurts. (I get this too) Constipation is a side effect listed on all SSRI's but changing may help relieve your issues. I'd talk to your pdoc as they may have some ideas. As well if this is a new prescription the side effect may wear off in time as your body adjusts.
