Paranoia of Medication

Does anyone here share an extreme paranoid fear of the effects of mind altering medications?  What are ways of overcoming this fear?  I've been extremely paranoid of taking most medication my whole life and even as a baby it was difficult to administer medication to me for some reason.  It was a HUGE step for me when I started on Geodon but now I've been pouring out part of the powder in the capsules ever since I was forced into cold turkey withdrawal and started taking it again because I wanted to make it easier for my mind to adjust instead of just continuing the total withdrawal since my body was obviously freaking out and I'm extremely scared that if they decide to change my medication like my doctor says might happen when I finally get to a psychiatrist that I'll have to go through that horrible withdrawal again if I started taking the full dose and that it might cause more problems like with how my tremors became worse because of it.

That's not neccessarily paranoid per se and they are not "mind altering". That would more describe illegal drugs. They are treatment that brings your mind closer to the state its supposed to be in. If you have a problem with temporary movement disorders (extra pyramidal side effects) from Geodon or any antipsychotic they can give you a side effect pill for that. Informing yourself of the potential side effects of medications and more importantly how they help is a good thing. You could go to the websites we have linked up or the medication websites themselves and discuss the information with your psychiatrist.
