Side effects of medicine

After seeing my doctor lately, she has decided to take me off my Cymbalta.  I've been on it for 3 years with no change in my depression.  What I'm wondering about are the withdrawals that I think I've been experiencing.  The doctor also has put me on Paxil while weaning me off the Cymbalta.  The symptoms I've had are mostly being very shaky; so much so that it's hard to hold a spoon because I'm shaking that badly.  Is this normal and will it go away?  I'd like to hear from people who have been on Cymbalta because I don't know if this is happening because I'm stopping it or if it's a side effect of the Paxil.  I've taken the Paxil for about 11 days now and seen no change.  Any response is welcome.

I went cold turkey off Cymbalt when I found out that I was pregnant. I suffered from multiple withdrawal symptoms...brain zaps, bouts of dizziness, the shakes, knees giving out, feeling of lead feet, ect. It took me a little over two months for them to dissipate.

I haven't taken Cymbalta or Paxil, so I can't give a personal withdrawal experience for those specific drugs. However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both? I know that it's not unusual to see this side effect with either drug, and as the substances leave your system, your body will eventually adjust (my guess is that it will take several weeks). I'm just wondering, did you doctor prescribe Paxil because it has a longer half-life and it will hopefully taper itself off more gently than Cymbalta alone?
