medication

Hi I have recently been diagnoised with bipolar disorder and given the medication ariprprisole and beta blockers. I cant tell you how edgy i feel. My doctor took me off prozac too. I cant relax or sit still and im still not sleeping. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks.

What time are you taking it? You could try taking it in the morning because it typically keeps people awake and causes restlessness. Also, when i first started on aripiprazole (abilify) i experienced some side effects but they went away after a couple of weeks. Hopefully yours will go away as well, if they don't go away,however, talk to your psychiatrist. You don't have to deal with any unwanted side effects if you don't want to. That is what mine always tells me anyways....

I agree with the other post and there will be some uncomfortability until the Prozac is completely out of your system. There are typically minor withdrawal symptoms that will go away. Speak to your psychiatrist about that as well. Its a matter of adjustment.

Definately take it in the morning. Also your psychiatrist shoud have prescribed some diazepam for the first couple of weeks - might be worth finding out if he will as it helped me enormously when I first started this med.

thanks for your message. Yeah my psychiatrist did prescribe some diazepam and temazepam for the first week. I found little benifit from it though. I think its just going to be a matter of time and adjustment.
