When I stopped medication (years ago before my current recovery) I became psychotic so that's never a good idea. When I was transferred from Seroquel to Risperdal with my psychiatrist's exact titration schedule (the only way it should be done) I got some typical flu like withdrawal symptoms for a few days and then it passed over. If your psychiatrist has authorized you to change medications, ask them exactly how it should be done and what to expect.
Thanks for your response.
i take 50mg seroquel (quetiapine) and i switch easily to 25mg if i want, then go back if i feel manic to 50mg quite often. this drug i must say can be easily reduced this is out my own experience and others equally admit it here.
however i don't know about higher doses. i think if i am right at my dose very subtherapeutic it isn't really used as an antipsychotic but rather a helper for sleep, so reducing it will give you a little of insomnia.
at therapeutic dose if it's the only AP you take then i tend to agree with IL that you titrate it with your pdoc so that you don't become psychotic again
good luck
