sleepwalking

I will begin taking Saphris tonight and I was just curious if it could cause sleepwalking..  My doctor is putting me on this medication because I am unable to sleep but maybe 3 hours a night..  I had legionairre's disease in 2011 and since then I have had major problems with lack of sleep..

Dolphinleiker, I understand that there all kinds of side effects with any meds and my dr said that Saphris is a relatively new drug..  I had a bad experience with sleepwalking on another med/meds that I was on,  so that is why I was so concerned about the sleepwalking issue..  I'm not worried about the sleepwalking anymore..  Now I am more concern with not being able to sleep but around 3 or 4 hours when I take it..  

Carcarlita, Can't that the Saphris made me tired,  just not getting enough sleep left me drained..  The morning after I took my 1st dose of it I got up full of energy and my family didn't know what to think..  It's funny how getting about 7-8 hours a night can totally change you..  I loved it..  Also,  I  am biopolar and I wasn't in a manic episode..

You asked when I will be seeing my dr again..  I want be seeing her for awhile but she told me to contact her on Monday 3/5 and let her know how things are going..  I have been keeping a record of how things went since I started the Saphris and I am sure that she will probably increase the dose to 10mg,  I guess I will find out Monday..

I too took that for a short time. Made me very tired. Pretty much knocked me out. I think I was on a higher dosage though. When do you see your doctor again? Maybe they need to increase your dosage.

Well there all kinds of side effects with any meds that you are given to take for sleep aids. But saphris is for treating bpd and can be used as a sleep aid.

When I took the Saphris Thursday night the 1st night to use it,  I slept extremely well better than I have in several years but then Friday night I took it and got real drowsy and laid down and couldn't  get back to sleep so I got up for awhile and then after about an hour I laid down again and slept only about 3 hours and I stayed up..  Surely I will get more than one good night of sleep on Saphris..  I am only taking 5mg maybe it needs to be increased..  And thankfully no sleep walking with this..lol    What I don't understand is why I have been given something that a side effect is insomnia when I already have that??

Its rare that it will cause sleep walking but a side effect is insomnia. So your sleeping habits of less sleep could get worse. But the side effects vary for everybody. While some has sleep walking you could sleep like a baby. It just depends on the individual person. Good luck!
