So far, since bloodwork isn't showing a lot, they are just ordering more bloodwork and there is no treatment being discussed. Except one doctor who says it is all fibromyalgia and wants me to take more useless anti depressant, which make me very apathetic if not suicidal actually. Right now they are doing a 24 free cortisol urine test and he is doing some antibody tests to rule out hashimotos, which is nice because this is the first doc where I haven't had to suggest testing, but the appt was still rather short which makes me nervous. I've had a cat scan of the throat. The ent said he cannot find out why a spot under my tongue hurts and why I have this weird jaw nerve/ tooth pain in and out. He gave up because the scan didn't show a thing. The new endo I am seeing this the scan is worthless because it's not my thyroid, it's a pitituary disorder. Yes, 8 years of this **** is way too much to deal with most days. I also have to try to keep up with two very hyper boys. *sigh* I worry most about what if what I have may be something my boys will end up having. My eldest son already has these weird headaches like I do, tummy troubles, extremely dry skin, mood swings, and muscle aches and he is only 8 yrs old.
also Mazon, i wanted to let you know that if you are persistent you will eventually figure this out! there is probably a link to ALL of your symptoms (yes including the digestive issues), just make sure you tell your Docs ALL your symptoms, write them all down if you have to, even if it's something that you think the Dr. is going to perceive as trivial. There may always be a link, and maybe not, but it doesn't hurt to ask and who knows, that one symptom might be the "ah ha!" moment for the Doc.
My brother found his link between his digestive issues which turned out to be Celiac Disease, and he practically had to BEG for the biopsy of his small intestine to confirm his self diagnosis since his blood work came back negative and his Doc just dismissed him as a hypochondriac, and low- and -behold he had it. And he also (like myself) had an autoimmune thyroid problem and now we're learning that when you have one auto-immune issue it can lead to or indicate others.
not saying you have any of the above mentioned things... just that it's worth investigating links between various symptoms and pursuing this until you can get better. Being chronically ill for so long really really takes it's toll on quality of life and that is not a way to live. I've only been really noticeably sick for under 2 years, sometimes i'm blown away that i've made it this long with out going crazy... i cannot imagine how it must be to have felt ill for 8 years.
have you had an MRI yet? what tests have been run on you other then TSH and T4/3???
I totally feel for you! many of the things are you experiencing i am as well. It's so hard to live like this and it's tough when you don't have answers! the endocrine system is just so tricky and with so many hormones to balance it can be difficult to get a diagnosis as well as to get it stable once you do!
like a lot of people looking to feel good again on these boards, i'm just trying to cope, and look for answers :)
what types of treatments are you using if any? I know you had mentioned that you don't have a diagnosis yet.... but are you taking any supplements or anything like that?
I take very small doses of Melatonin about an hour before i would like to go to sleep at night and that definitely helps with the insomnia!!!! you can get that in the vitamin and supplement section at the grocery store or pharmacy, at least it's something to help with the sleep cycle until you have more answers.
Good luck to you and i really hope you find some answers and can get to the bottom of why you have been feeling crummy for so long!
