Pituitary Microadenoma

Hi there I was just told today that I have had a Pituitary Microadenoma sense 2006.  Today is the first I have leared of it.  Make in 06 I had a MIR with my Endo Doctor to look at my Pituitary.  She passed away after I had the test done and I had never heard anything thinking that was a good thing.  We today I went for my 6 month check up and I was telling the doctor about the vision things that have been happening to me.  I told her that I had an MIR a long time ago, but that it was fine.  She looked way back in my chart and found the MRI results.  in 06 it measued 5 X 4X 6 mm but how knows now.  I'm going tuesday for another MRI.
My eyes are tired and in my left I I see cruved lines that jump.  and floaters.  Had a big differance in my glasses.

Just wondering how fast they grow and should I expect that it has grown in the past 4 years?

Barrettsark- I'm sorry that it took so long for you to find out your 2006 MRI
findings.  Please let us know your next MRI results!

Testdeprived- They found I had a lot of floaters when I was in my 20s and gave me a pamphlet that gave indication they usually hit when a person is older than that.  Mine can be black, pink, green.  The eye docs aren't worried about them.

Or ask on the eye forum - but my eye doc has told me time and time again about the floaters being normal.

Really don't worry about floaters, especially the black ones. It's totally normal.
People who are short-sighted (can't see far-away, see better close up) are even more prone to them than other people. But if your floaters suddenly get alot worse, see a regular optometrist (the kind who works in a shop that sells glasses and does eye tests) to put your mind at ease.

If there's anything at all to worry about they'll send you to an eye doctor.

Don't get so worked up .... many people I think have floaters.  Some people that have migraine headaches get some sort of floaters. So relax but make an appt to see an eye  doc about it if your concerned. Google vitreous detachments and you'll find all kinds of info

no, floaters are completely unrelated to pituitary problems.  They are pieces of your eye ( vitreous detachments) that over time break away and float around in the gel/water substance and then create a shadow on your retina that you can see.

floaters arent pit issues?

It all depends on the type of tumor.
Not only should they send you for an MRI, but they should send you to a neuro-endocrinologist for lab testing to determine if it is hormone secreting.  Then or as well you should see a neuro-opthomologist so get your eyes checked, in particular with visual fields so that they know what is going on with your optic nerves.

Most pit tumors are slow growers but some can grow faster - and your endo doctors are not dealing with this correctly. Once they had a report with any tumor, her practice should have sent you for more testing.

Always get copies of your reports and labs so that you know what is going on - you can tell them when you get the MRI (as she said, make sure it is dynamic) that you want a copy and walk out with a copy. Then ask 24 hours later and they will send you a copy of the report.

Your eye issues do not sound like pit issues - they sound like astigatism. Pit issues cause a loss of vision to the side.

Get testing - and get to a better endo. You need testing. A MRI will only tell you something is there - you need to know what. That is more important.

Hi

I have had problems in 8,5 year and they still dont know what is going on!

Mine was 6x6x5 mm in the right side in 2004, 8 mm in the right side in 2006. Got on dopamin-agonist i feb 2009. MRI aug 2009 shows none in the right side but a 4 mm in the left side. They havn't used "dynamic contrast" before 2009 so the 4 mm in the left side has been there all along.

Make sure they used "dynamic contrast". In Denmark they slice with 3 mm.
In my case it has "only" grown 2 mm in 2 year.
