spinal cord injury

spinal cord injury

my kitten has been attacked by a few dogs and she is having injury in her lower abdomen. she is trying to walk with her front two legs and she can successfully walk but while walking she is clearly dragging her hind limbs. i am scared if she can be paralysed due to spinal injury. also her tail was not responding since hours but now it is responding to touch. what do you think about it? what is the treatment you recommend?? kindly do the needful

The best thing I can recommend is a few days of cage rest (actually, it would be a trip to the vet, but this is the next best thing).

Usually steroids and antibiotics are prescribed in case the paralysis is being caused by soft tissue injury. Actual spinal injury is much more problematic.

Place the kitten in a small cage and provide bedding, food and water, and some papers for toilet. Hopefully a day or two of limited mobility will give her back a chance to heal.

You should pick up a fungisaid cream or spray from the pet store to prevent infection on the wound. If it DOES infect, you'll have to procure antibiotics.
