Hello, I am new to this forum. I have commented on a few threads. I had my decompression surgery July 2012. I had a bad syrinx it went from my C2 spine down below my shoulders. I had all the classic symptoms. Balance, swallowing and vison, was the latest one I had. Mine was caught my me having Bell’s Palsy, the doctor ask me what happen and when I told him that my left arm went numb he did a MRI and found the Chiara Malformation. He had set me up an appt. before he even come back to tell me. The NS he sent me to was good and he did a complete MRI and told me that on top of the CM I had a basilar invagination, and two herniated disc at the C6 and C7. I had my surgery, everything went fine. My syrinx was the reason the rest happened. I lost control of everything. I could not even hold a pencil to write or talk and even walk. I was a 45 year old baby. I got into therapy at the Patricia Neal Center in Knoxville, TN. To make a long one short cause I wouldn’t give up was determined to walk and go back to a normal life, 6 months later I am walking and back to work and playing with my grand baby living a normal life.
