How serious is a MRI that shows a 10mm extension with a syrinx from my C5-T1?

I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon Friday. I just don't know what to expect and I am very scared. Having bad headaches, eye pressure, ears ringing, numbness in upper extremities, loss of balance, and I think siatica in my right leg for the last 3 weeks.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I know how scary this is for you as I went thru it as well....I did not have a syrinx and I had surgery to help prevent one from forming so, seeing a well informed and experienced NS is very important....educate yourself on Chiari and ALL related conditions....and do not agree to surgery right away...not all surgeons are experienced enough with Chiari   and you could end up with more issues as a result....finding the right Dr is key!

May I ask what area you live in?
