Recovery and popping when i move my head.

Had stitches out last week and was told to start walking 1 to 2 miles a day so next day I walked. Well the next day I noticed that the back of my head and neck on the right side was very stiff and tight and it felt like I had a bone sticking out and it pops every time I move my head. Is that normal?  I was told by someone that its just the muscle healing where it was cut. Does anyone else have this.
Thanks
Wanda

Thanks all for your input. NS office said I did to much and so the muscles got all inflamed and was causing the popping. Seems the tightness tenderness and soreness is taking forever to go away.

What does the NS say about it? Sounds important enough to call. Lisa

Mine does popping but it is from the rods I have.  My neck does get tight but never pops.  My doctor did say mine could pop and it would be the muscle at times.

Hi...yes this could very well be the muscle as they do get tight, so using a heating pad 15 mins b4 u exercise ur neck and for 15 mins after may help relax the muscle so this popping stops.....
