Anyone have problems with insurance denying Surgery coverage?

Hi,

I found out Tuesday that I must have surgery done on November 6th because of my CM. I have a blockage and a cyst. I was told my insurance has to pre approve the procedure though. Someone in my family told me the insurance may reject the claim if they don’t think it’s medically needed. My claim was put in today so I won’t hear back for a while but now I’m concerned cause I’m in a lot of pain. I’d think a blockage would make it medically needed but who knows. Anyone else have this problem? I’m hoping they approve it

I didn't have a problem getting approval for my chiari decompression surgery but I keep getting denied for a craniocervical fusion. I know many have a problem with this as it is often misunderstood. It's so frustrating.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
I know dealing with the Insurance can be more frustrating then anything else....I did not need  to have approval but since I was from out of state the issues I had were getting them to send the bills to my INS in my state and they kept sending to the NY office...which would not help.....and resulted in me getting overdue notices....so I had to really pay attention to bills when they came to make sure everything was done correctly.
Sending prayers you get approval.
