I think that the main point you are making is that we really need to check into our NS before undergoing surgery as it is major surgery. I admit, the first thing I did when I found out I needed surgery was to google the name of mine!! Luckily, he turned out to have an excellent reputation and if definitely eased my mind when it came time to get it done.
As for the other stuff...I admit I didn't research it much, being in Canada I knew there was no chance of getting to any of the TCI's.
This is why the forum is so great...we can pass on to others the best of the best:)

I do not know if the physician(s) is guilty or not or if the patient(s) was after money. I don't know how many people he helped or didn't help. I am saying any of his patients or the institute's patients could be dragged into a his/their legal mess; subpoena into court. Who wants that? It is public record how many times a physician has been in legal trouble/cases; for the public's safety. Keep that in mind in choosing a physician as well. I am speaking from the other side of the fence; as a nurse. The more times they have been in legal "hotwater" should be an indication of "not good for you." I have seen it all too often working as a nurse in the USA.
If I know about it and I am all the way in Belgium; 4,000 miles away.....
I agree with carolyn and you also have to look at the fact that they (TCI) have helped WAY more people than the number that has sued them. I dont know all the details but from what i read it was one or two people that started it and their lawyers went out and found other people to add to the case. Personally i think it was people who thought they would be "cured" and then saw a chance to get some money. Thats just my opinion!!! The ONLY reason i didnt go to NY was bc of insurance.
Yeah, I stumbled among a few too on the internet..something about doing unnecessary surgeries. You never know though if it is just angry people who expected to be "cured" and weren't or if it was really malpractice. I think that is why most NS won't guarantee any improvement when it comes to decompression surgery.
