CSF Pressure Test

I will be scheduled to have a CSF Pressure Test done by Dr. Linda Gray at Duke Hospital.  What is this like?  What do they do?  I hear she is supposed to be excellent.  Does it hurt a lot?  What is the recovery like?  Will I be able to drive home (about an hour and a half)?  My husband can't drive due to some medical issues...He definitely wants to go with me...Should someone else go along?  Thanks everyone!!!!

Hi...if u r talking about the CINE MRI to do a flow study it is like ne other MRI u may have had except it is in 2 parts...the second u get contrast and a BP clip....so no, it does not hurt.

Now if ur Dr is doing a LP, that is different, and I am not sure if u really need a recovery time except to lie flat for an hour afterward to help avoid a CSF leak.....

This one may hurt a little bit as it is an injection to the spine to draw fluid  it has been way too long since I had one to remember pain....

If it is the LP, have someone else drive.

Good luck

They mentioned doing contrast, so I think it's the CINE MRI....Is there any recovery time with that?...I've read some comments that say something about laying completely flat for 24 hrs.  My husband can't drive right now due to some of the meds he's taking...so it would be up to me!  Thanks Selma!
