Chiari & med effects...

Ok, I know this may seem alot personal and I am sorry but it's a nagging question. Do you think that having Chiari, dealing with everything that goes along with it and also the many meds that are taken to help eleviate the pain & symptoms can drown out the sexual appetite or slow down libido that we may otherwise have?

This is an issue I feel a lot of us deal with and it has been brought up in the past.  I'm proud of you that you feel comfortable enough to ask because we all deal with it in some way or another.  I am experiecing the same way.  Went from being very active to not even thinking of it. I explained it to my NS as if my brain has flipped a 180.  There are items in the stores that do help with this though.  Wishing you a better day.

We have to remember Chiari affects us in the control center....our spinal cord where all nerve impulses pass...with compression not all can pass thru to the brain and back to certain areas of the body...some times we can get multipule signals all at once, some times we lose some and have drop attacks, or get numb....and that is what happens...we do not lose interest as much as the sensation is lost and we get pain along with it and it is easier to avoid then deal with....

My Chiari specialist was well aware that is can be affected and asked me about it, I was like "FINALLY" there is a reason I feel or do not feel a certain way....I tried explaining to my DH....but I had no idea what it was....and I was sooooooo glad my DH was there when the Dr asked about it too.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm in the same boat and have been for quit some time now, But I don't know what to do about it.  So As Selma commented it's not the meds themselves, it's the Chiari, But I just wonder what exactly is it with the chiari that causes the lack of stimulation, interest, lack of sensation, etc?

Not too personal and a true Chiari specialist will ask u about this,...it is not the meds, but Chiari itself that does it.....
