Did anyone need a caregiver after surgery

I was wondering if anyone needed a caregiver after surgery or were you able to do for yourself limited I am sure?
I will be undergoing surgery in a few weeks and didn't know if I needed anyone to stay with me

Hi Christy I just wanted you to know that I made sure to store all of my meal preparations for the day in containers that were less than 5lbs & were on levels in fridge/pantry that did not require bending.   My husband did stay home with me for the 1st week tho, but I still wanted to do as much for myself as I could.  After he went back to work,  I just waited to do things like shower once he got home.  I actually felt good enough to do most of it on my own, but needed help to wash hair so that I wouldn't wet the dressing.  Just make sure to have oversized pull over or button up pajamas which will help post op.  My biggest hurdle was learning how to get out of bed on my own without straining, but where there is a will there is a way!!!  Sending prayers you way for a speedy recovery!!!

Hi...did you add your surgery date to the surgery date thread?

Yes, you will need help the first few weeks....I had my husband, and when he had to go back to work he had things set up that I did not need to lift anything and  he prepared my breakfast and lunch and placed it in a cooler next to my chair in the living room....so I also did not have to carry anything....First few weeks my Drs had me using a walker....so it is near impossible to get a meal for yourself.

We are all different, and it is hard to say what care you will need until you need it....just be prepared to need someone there to help with meals, and house chores.....
