Just updating my physical therapy appt.

What a day it has been and also a disappointing one.  Went to go the the appt and I was explaining to the therapist that I have started sweling in the back of my head this past week and it is getting worse and In the past two day have been having headaches.  She said she didn't want to work on me until I went back to see the Dr.   She left and gave them a call and they wanted to see me right away.  When I seen the Dr. he took one look at it and ordered any MRI.  He said it looks like I have a CSF leak.  I was torn up with emotion.  I have the MRI on Tuesday and then appt with him again next Wed.  He said that he can tell that it is a leak and I will require another surgery to stich the leak.  Has any one else have to have this done.  This was so so disapppointing to hear.  I thought I was on my way to recovery and now I am going to have to go through this all again.  He also stated that he is surpriesed that this has happened to me because it usually occurrs after surgery and it's been 6 weeks for me.  I have been taking it really easy because I didn't want anything to go wrong.  Please let me know if any of you have had this and about the recovery time.  I am supposed to go back to work in 5 week's and I am now getting worried about being able to.  Please let me know.  I am so flustrated as you can teell.  So disappointing.
Hope every one else had a better day than I had.

I had surgery on 9/09 then had a few CSF leaks and had to have surgery again 10/09 to fix them. I wasnt getting any better from the first surgery and not healing correctly. I wasnt even able to get back to work after the first surgery. But after the second surgery I was back at work in 2 weeks, just part time but I was working! I pray and hope this second surgery helps and will keep you in my prayers!

I thank you so much for responding and telling me that you also had a 2nd surgery.  So the recovery time wasn't as long?  I am suppose to report back to work in 4 week's so seeing that you were better in 2 make's me so happy to hear.  I am a lunch lady   (smile) and it is alot of physical work so I am kind of worried. I know it will all work out, and I thank you so much for making my day with you encouraging word's

Sadly, as you know, that was exactly what I suspected when you were describing it on your other post. I am really GLAD that your PT decided not to work on you and got you to call your Dr.

I am really, really sorry that you have to go through this all again. I was lucky enough not to have that complication but many here have and hopefully someone will share their experience with you. Take comfort in the fact that once they stitch up the leak..you will be back on the path to recovery!!

Keep your chin up.. ((HUGS))

Hi I am so sorry.....it can and does happen from time to time.
IS it diff for u to be upright?....many times a CSF leak will make u nauseated and give u the worst HA's ever....

I am sorry that the leak is not one that might heal on it's own.....or that a bloodpatch can not be tried...surgery is the last option and could be a result of size of the leak.

Please keep us posted
