I knew Ray would have the answer on this one...lol...
I also had the itching....sometimes to excess....but I never scratched my self raw or nething....just drove me nutz...so that explains me... : )
Hi Shannon...I have definitely had the itching..not so much the vomiting though. I remember going through periods are insane itchiness...and I was scrambling trying to find what I was allergic to. Now I am pretty sure it is a nerve thing.
I just got dx with Hashi's so it will be interesting to see if you do too....It's funny how all these things get intertwined somehow..it's enough to make your head spin!!
Do you find the itchiness gets worse it you have closer fitting clothes? I do and that's why I live in sweats most of the time!!!
I agree with Ray..it definitely sounds like nerves...and if it gets too bad I would contact you DR.
Carolyn

Hi Shannon, Do you have twitching under the skin during these episodes?
It sounds like a nerve problem, you should talk with your doctors.

formication:
is the medical term for a sensation that resembles that of insects crawling on (or under) the skin. It is one specific form of a set of sensations known as paresthesia, which also include the more common prickling, tingling sensation of "pins and needles". Formication is a well-documented symptom that has numerous possible causes.
The experience of formication may sometimes cause feelings of itchiness, tingling, pins and needles, burning, or even pain. When it is perceived as itchiness, it may trigger the scratch reflex and because of this, some people who are suffering from the sensation are at risk of causing skin damage through excessive scratching. More rarely, susceptible individuals who fixate on the sensation may develop delusional parasitosis, becoming convinced that this sensation is being caused by actual insects, despite repeated reassurances from physicians, pest control experts, and entomologists.
The term is derived from formica, the Latin word for ant.
fasciculation:
is a small, local, involuntary muscle contraction (twitching) visible under the skin arising from the spontaneous discharge of a bundle of skeletal muscle fibers. Fasciculations have a variety of causes, the majority of which are benign.
nope selma, no syrinx. Just chiari, overcrowding, csf blockage, and hypermobility. Getting tested next week for Hashi's. The first time it happened i thought i was allergic to a lotion, but i used that same lotion again just to see and nothing happened. The other two times i had not used that lotion. So i dont know really. The last time was friday night and really sacred me. It seems like they get worse each time.
Sounds like what happens with Ray.....were u dx with a syrinx?
