Grinding noise in head post op?

I'm now 2 months post op and have begun to notice this very loud grinding noise in my head anytime I move it. Has anyone else experienced this? It is so annoying, it's beginning to slowly drive me insane! I can't even lay in bed at night because the slightest movement and I hear this loud grind. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks!

Hello, I am glad everything has went well so far.  I do have the noise you are describing.  I was told it is your vibrate learning a new way of moving.  I have had miy decompression July 2012.  I still have it but not as often.  I have four rods in my neck so my ROM is limited.  I do the excercises for mine and one thing that does help is in the shower use the hot water as a massaage as hot as you can stand it and do it all around your neck.  But it will go away, mine does it now only if not moving my neck very much.

But have u done exercises with ur neck...do u move it several times a day ?

It could be calcium deposits...or  some form of bone that is protruding....

ROM is range of motion....how far u can look left, right and up and down....

EDS is a connective tissue disorder...it can cause allergies and sensitivites, fragile skin, joint pains and subluxations and dislocations and hypermobility.

We do have a EDS group that had more info ....http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/417?camp=msc

My neck is massaged several times a week so I don't think it's the muscle. No I was not tested for Ehlers-Danos, what exactly is that and what is ROM? I think it's bone on bone because I can feel it rub but it doesn't hurt when it does.

Hi....some have this, I was lucky in that I did not...it could be a few different things...it could be bone, or it may be muscle that is tight....

Did u do neck exercises post op? How is ur ROM?

Were u checked for Ehlers-Danlos?
