Well I too have had IBS for yrs..since grade school...so I understand, but u do need to cut some things out of ur diet. Plus u have to get a balance in ur digestive system in order to feel better...when it is out of whack u will have more intense HA;'s..fatigue...muscle pains.
SO , u do need to attack this to help ur overall health...these r toxins in ur body and meds can only help for short term...we need to adjust diet and lifestyle to get our balance : )
The GERD forum here has some info on the Health Pages that may be helpful to u
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/GERD-Acid-Reflux/show/333?camp=msc
Eating something in moderation is ok...but u do need to get urself going at least 3 or 4 times a day...so talk to ur dr about a gentile laxative like senokot and or adding more fiber to ur diet....
I feel the same way...lol...a big mess...but, I am seeing some progress with the reflux...I even had a few yrs with no meds and no problems.....so I know it can be done...but I had a major flare up with s urgery on my ankle, then my knee and then my PFD...all those meds play havoc on our system...I do have a hernia so that also plays into the mix.

I've modified it but from time to time...I eat what I shouldnt =-| I was put on Nexium but I cant afford it and my ins doesnt cover it. I take another over the counter acid reducer i think its the store brand for prilosec. I noticed my digestion is horrible. I think i have IBS but i need to go back to the doc to confirm it. ay i'm a big mess
Hi...yes a hiatal hernia and reflux will give u that burning. Are u on meds for it?...have u modified ur diet and lifestyle?
U do need to make some changes in both in order to allow the meds to work properly......plus there is a new method that chiropractors can manipulate the hernia down away from the diaphragm to help relieve the pressure and symptoms....u do need to research to locat those trained in this procedure.

do any of you have a burning under your left breast..like in the rib cage area right under? I've had an endoscopy done before and they didnt find ulcers ..only hiatal hernia and reflux. I wonder if all this has any relation?
Hi...chiari is affecting our brain and brain stem...the central area of function for our entire body...so when it miss fires it can affect ne part of us....plus many have post nasal drip due to chiari and it's affect on the sinus area and that can also cause GERD.
I have GERD and I have low Vit D. I supplement Vit D and a B complex because I have a vegan diet. I take Prevacid for the reflux. My digestion is a mess! I have gastritis now and it burns so bad. Does anyone no why there would be a relation between chiari and digestive problems?
Well then the next thing u need to look at is timing for ur meds...I was told after being on my meds for some time that u should not take GERD meds close to vitamin supplements....I spoke to my pharmacist and was told to take the GERD meds in the AM and early afternoon and take the vitamins b4 bed...it made such a big diff...and allows my system to absorb them.
Do keep on top of ur vitamin and mineral levels...and timing for all meds should be closely looked at.

Thank you for answering guys!
Selma- They have thought a few different times that I had ulcers. They did scopes and everything to check that out. And nothing like that showed up except my acid pumps release too much acid.
They tried multible things and then finally put me on Nexium that seems to work extremely well for me
Hi, I don't know if there is a relation to chiari but what Selma said would make sense(she always makes sense!) I have acid reflux and my vit-D is EXTREMELY low. they gave me 5IU . I also work in a call center and tend to stay indoors on the weekends and I am pale pale pale ..that has a lot to do with the lack of vid-D. We need sunshine!
Hi, I to have a low vit-D level. I have been suffering that for a couple years. I first was put on vit-D once a week for four weeks had it rechecked and it was still very low. So now im on it once a week for 4 months. So I dont no if it is related or not. Selma is very good at knowing alot of stuff I hope she knows about this. I also have a low vit-B12 too but the B-12 isnt enough to be put on anything.

Hi...I think it is the way we live...spend more time inside or too much in the sun and we get burned...or we use sunscreens.
Also, GERD/reflux also affect absorption....ur Dr should be able to give u a rx for vit D and tell u to spend at least 15 mis everyday in the sun without burn.
B12 is also something that can be an issue with absorption issues....
Are u on meds for reflux...sorry I can't remember if u said...only remember that u r on many meds.
