Just got MRI results. Heel pain and feet tingling anyone?

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. I've been dealing with all kinds of symptoms for years beginning when I was around 14 years old following a car accident from which I got whiplash. (I'm now 29). I had a head MRI done last week for a number of symptoms after all my blood work came back normal. (Migraines,  neck pain, exhaustion, muscle aches - especially hamstrings and forearms, night sweats, carpal tunnel, and about 3 weeks ago my feet started tingling. Now I have pretty bad heel pain as well). The migraines, carpal tunnel, and exhaustion really began when I was pregnant with my 3rd child. The doctor contributed my symptoms to pregnancy, but they never went away. My daughter is now 13 months old and symptoms are only getting worse. Since my PCM still hasn't read my MRI report or called me back, I went by the imaging center and got a copy myself last night. Results showed "Mild cerebellar ectopia with inferior cerebellar tonsils. 4 mm below foramen magum". I'm wondering if this could be causing all these symptoms?? I have an appointment with a neurologist but it's not for 3 weeks. Anyone else experiencing these symptoms, especially the heel pain and feet tingling??

Hi Iinzi
Have you got any more info regarding all this and if it can be caused by the chiari? I'm awaiting my report and having almost identical issues

The key is to have the right Dr, one well informed and experienced with Chiari and ALL related conditions. Many of the bad surgical experiences found after that they had a related condition ...AND had they known and precautions taken I feel they may not have had the experience they had....

Most NS's will offer to do surgery, but they do not always look for these other issues that can also be part of our symptoms and issues...they need to be addressed and sometimes compensated for during surgery.....

Hang in there, take your time to find the right Dr for you.

Selma,
Thanks for responding! I too thought maybe my shoes were thr cause but after being off my feet for several days and the constant tingling too, it didn't seem to make sense. Guess I'll wait and see what the neurologists says. Hopefully it doesn't get too much worse in 3 weeks! I'm glad surgery worked and helped you, I've read mixed results. I'll update once I get an actual diagnosis. :)

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

My first issues that caused  me to look into more Drs was issues with feet pain///I always had headaches...but to not be able to be on my feet was difficult since I had to work....I had everything from numbness to electric like shocks....I went to a foot Dr that claimed I had tarsal tunnel....found out yrs later I did not...it was Chiari and EDS related.

And in MHO Chiari can not be described as mild by a MRI they have to do more testing and look at how it is affecting you b4 they label it as mild....so many Drs inexperienced with Chiari do this by the size of the herniation and that is not as important as if you have a CSF obstruction.

I do not have these symptoms anymore as I had surgery.....I do have issues still with my feet but not like I had b4...I would carry 2 xtra pair of shoes to work and change them as the day went on...spent so much on shoes thinking they were the cause of my issues....sigh...

Find a true Chiari specialist a NL is one to DX...next you need a Dr well informed and  experienced with Chiari and ALL related conditions.
