Medications??

What meds are you on? Or what treatments have you done to help relieve headaches, neck pain, fatigue, weakness... Well all your symptoms?

Currently I am on Neurontin 1200 mg a day, Soma 300 mg a day, Midrin prn for the really bad headaches and Lortab at night for pain.  I do not like to take meds and honestly these don't take the pain completely away.  I haven't had surgery yet, still seeking out opinions.  I have been through 2 rounds of PT, but this was before I knew I had Chiari.  The first round was hurtful to me as they did mechanical traction and made my symptoms worse.  The second PT was hands on and massages and heat to my neck.  It helped somewhat, but probably not enough to fight my insurance company for paying for more visits after the allowed 10.  Have gone through neck and C-spine injections, but realize they only provide a few days of relief and is it really worth it, I think not.  Are you currently taking anything?

I am on Tizanidine (Zanaflex). Suppose to take two 4mg tablets everynight before bed. And I'm on midrin also as needed for pain. But I'm currently out of midrin and it's $30 after insurance so can't get refill right now. And not so sure the zanaflex is helping any!

I've heard slot of people talk about the neurontin. I may talk to doc about it. I need something to help me sleep at night also! Ugh... I'm just tired of hurting

I am currently on Lyrica and Amitriptyline at night...I am post surgery (about 8 months). I was on Neurontin but the side effects were too much for me to handle as I am very susceptible to meds. I would ask your Dr about it...the main objective for me was to help me sleep and it does do that. Also, the Lyrica has helped some with the muscle twitches and the vibrating feeling (if you get those things). For me, it doesn't help too much with the pain b/c it really needs to be taken twice a day but I can't do that and function...which I need to be able to do with 3 kids!!! I am also considering botox as an option for the permanent muscle spasms....but I am waiting to see if the rehab Dr thinks it is a good option. Amitriptyline is a good med just to help you sleep and it's cheap!!

I was on amitriptyline before and got off of it bc I didn't feel it helped and it made me gain weight.

I am on Temazepam for sleep and it works well for me. My former Neurologist put me on Tigan an anti nauesiant for my migraies and i tell ya they help almost better then the pain meds, Tigan and Phenagran suppositories, It has really cut down on the ER visits. My new Neurologist put me on Topamax for the daily migraines and it has helped but i now have a multitude of horrid side effects and well that is just me and i do have to say the daily headaches have subsided.

I was on Zanaflex before Soma.  Zanaflex just didn't work for me.  Soma has been better for me, but Soma with Neurontin makes me somwhat dizzy, so I hold off til late afternoon to put those two together.  I have 4 daughters and completely understand how you have to schedule your meds around the kids.  Something I think the docs don't consider at times.  Too bad your copay is so much for the Midrin.  Mine is 8.00, so that's not too bad.  Also, I had used a tens unit in the past that helped.  Currently I need more of the sticky things that go on my back and haven't had the chance to get them yet.

I take amitriptylline at night and lortab as needed but wish i had something to try before pain med.  A lot of you are on muscle relaxers, would that help me try and avoid the lortab?  I have to see ent because i think i have another sinus infection and he puts me on 3 weeks of levaquin, and my wrist tendonitis is worse, its depressing. taking pills, feel like a druggie and just want to feel good/normal again, ugh.
