I have signed on before as citysmom, but - couldnt access this acct anymore. So - take 2! City does have partial blockage of  the CS fluid, & an 8mm defect. We saw a new NL last thurs, she said to get her a psych evalel!!!!!! My dd symptoms include: tingling in hands & feet, head ache, vertigo, nausea, stomache ache, leg collapsing, drop attacks, visual dist., vision loss, hearing dist, frequent urination, loss of muscle strength, fatigue. Not to mention, that she has always excelled at sch & now usually gets 50 % on spl tests, & has to have extra hlp w/ math. the NL asked 3 difft times if there is a chance City could be physically or sexually abused. Her appt w/ the NS specialist, Dr. Ellenbogan is on 4/25. City is 8. anybody else have this happen to them??? city just started having symp in Jan.

How old is your son? how long have you known? City doesn't have any syrinx, but not sure about tethered cord. She has had 4 good days in a row (knock on wood!) other than dizzy yesterday for about 15 min.

Hi.
My son has been sent for psych evaluation too. The psych said because of the fatigue my son should only go to school for half days and then gave us a prescription for sleeping pills. (my son already sleeps up to 19 hours a day so I didn't give him the pills and he loves school so he didn't cut back with the half days) The Psych didn't see any reason for a follow up with me son as he thought my son's issues were medical and he referred us back to the NL. The NL is not happy with this and wants us to go back again. I'm not happy with either of them!!!!

I only have heard of Dr Ellenbogen and he has a good reputation......

AS for the symptoms being related to activities, that is pretty normal with chiari...and it could also indicate she may have a related condition like intra cranial hypertension or POTS.

Symptoms do cycle as well...it may be the best right now for ur DD to cut out her activities until she sees Dr Ellenbogen and see what he says.

Was she checked for a syrinx?, tethered cord?......

Thank you! & I did contact the MedHelp Re: 2 accts. I go on hear and read all the time, just couldn't make any comments!

does anyone see Dr. Ellenbogan (NS)? How is he w/ dealing w/ Chiara issues?

Are all of Citys symptoms chiari? What I have read, yes, according to the 3 difft NL's, no! also, her symptoms are intermittent & usually last <30mins. other than 2xs when she has lost her vision. They also seem to be activity related. the more activity, the more symptoms& worse. is this normal too? Can it result in perm. damage? my husband doesn't want her to do dance, or pe anymore...... what is everyone elses experience. I like for her to be active, but not at the permanenet detr. of her health.....
thnks so much & can't wait for her appt...

Jodie, citys mom
