Different Approach...

SO I have new thoughts on how to find a doctor that will listen.

In my dilagent search for help I tried a new approach. I stopped in to different Primary Doctor offices and left a message for the doctor...

"will you please help me? I have a Chiari Malformation & Osteoporosis. I  am looking for help managing my symptoms with out using antidepressants or narcotics."

Three days later the office called me back and the Nurse Practitioner said she was willing to see me. I set up my initial appointment and she spent almost 2 hours with me. I took as much info from TCI and my radiology reports. She said she was not familiar with Chiari, "but I can learn".

I wanted to cry from excitement! FINALLY! Someone who wants to help me and she listened! In two weeks the office has accomplished more than anyone Dr since August of last year. She is following through on the recommedations from TCI, now maybe I can get that deciding factor (CINE) Is my CSF Blocked or not?

So I just thought I would share another possible way to find the help you/we need.

So happy for u...our PCP is the most important one to oversee everything going on and to make sure we have the best specialists...if he /she is not doing their best for us we get lost in the shuffle.....

I also have a PCP that wants to learn all he can, and I am not his only chiari patient and is learning from me and TCI about the condition...so I am comfortable not having a NL I go to bcuz I know if I need something my PCP will make sure I to give it or send me to the right place to get it....

I like your approach!  Stating what you want and need in black and white terms!  I see a new neuro on Monday and I think I might utilize this!
Tell him I want no narcotics but I'd like to find a way to go on day to day with out having to lie down so much!
