Hey there!
My mother filed for mine when I was 16 before my surgery, I was denied once, everyone is, you have to appeal it, maybe more than once.
I live in Louisiana and she wrote a letter to the state representative, which helps somehow.
Also, you can get an attorney who will do all the work for you, if you win, they get paid out of your back pay, if you don't, then you don't have to pay them anything,
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
As I stated this is not going to be easy....the link posted above has tips and secrets to winning an appeal....you will need a Dr to sign off that you are disabled and your DX's need to be on the list.....I am not sure if what you mentioned are on the list or not....just know Chiari is not.
May I ask why you have not worked? Have you been DX'd with related or non related conditions?
For anyone that is looking for tips on winning a SSI or SSID appeal see this link...I did bump it up but depending on how you access the site you may not see it...so here is the link to the thread-

I am about to go through this myself. It's been 4 years since my surgery and I haven't worked. Up until this point I have just been dealing with being broke but now I don't have a choice, it's also time to stop the denial. Has anyone ever done it. I have a lot of spinal cord damage and nerve damage from my first surgery, are those on the list?
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Yes a few members have gotten disability but it can take up to 2 yrs and most needed to appeal with the help of an attorney.....and they had several conditions not just Chiari....as Chiari is not on the disability list.
We do have a thread on tips for getting disability,I will try to locate it and bump it up for you to see.,
