I don't think it's Chiari related but...

Does any of you have the bed of their nails or their lips turning slightl bluish or purpulish? I notice this happening to my nail for sometime now, but I just realise about my lips this afternoon! I will definitly try to tell my pcp tomorow at my pap-test appointment. I hope she wont be to much in a rush. Thank you for your time.

I saw my pcp today. She said that she don't think it's cold related. She was also honnest saying that she don't know enough about Chiari to put it on it. She asked me to tell my NS at my next apointment (in june!!!). She also ordered for a new sleep study to make sure my c-pap is giving enouf power (I dont have better word) at night. And also a respiratory study to see if my asthma agravated.

She believe that my nails and lips turning slightly bleu purpulish is du to lack of oxygen at certain time of the day. She told me not to get to nervous about it because it's not always like that. But she also told me that if it turn really blue blue and I have difficulty breathing to go see the ER. I had an heart eco 6 months ago and she said that it was good so she wasnt effraid for my heart.

Since she believe it due to lack of oxygen she precribe me Symbicort any body had that prescribed before and what was you side effects. I'm recluant to try new drugs, it's scares me!

I'm glad you brought this up. I have that, too, with my fingernail beds sometimes turning really purple/blue.
Also, I have the same thing that Sexybare mentioned about my fingers nd sometimes toes turn white and go numb.  That freaks me out.
Yes, please let us know what they say!

Wow, are we all alike or what. I have the same issues. My nl says its related to chiari and my autonomic dysfunction. Fill us in on what you find out. Not only are my hands, nails and feet purple but then some of my fingertips go numb and turn white.

Are ur hands cold?....if it is not an oxygen issue, look into Raynauds Phenomenon.

I get the purple  in my toes and fingers but only when they r cold.

Drew, just my opinion being as how I have breathing/sleep issues, but I would think it indicates a lack of oxygen.  Do you have sleep apnea or anything like that.  I have this happen, even purple feet, sometimes.  So let me know what your doc says.  I haven't asked about mine yet.
