What's the connection???

CHIARI AND AUTOIMMUNE DISORDERS, DISEASES AND DEFICIENCIES.....what's the connection?? I keep reading everywhere "Chiarians are more susceptible" "Many Chiari patients have autoimmune issues" but I cannot find any medical documentation to support this. I have been looking for months.

Is there anything that anyone can link me to anything that supports this claim?

Thank you, in advance, for any assistance.

When I get a chance I will go back to the site and copy and paste what I saw.....I did read about the connection that is why I gave u the link.....I am sure if u ask some of the Chiari specialists they will explain all of this...the video's the Dr does a great job explaining the connections.

I had already been to the chiaricare website and I still do not see anything listing this connection.
I have not viewed the videos as of yet. I know there are doctors that are better versed in Chiari than others, as with any condition. I am seeking the medical studies and literature to back claims of this connection. Or at least something of a credible medical site that states something to that effect.

Thank you for your input thus far.

Those links are from Drs here in the states....and there are Drs that know about these connections....

The 2nd link is to a Dr in the Baltimore, MD area...I saw Drs in NY area and they knew the connection and told me about it....

I feel u may not have found them as there are far less Drs that are well informed and experienced with Chiari and the related conditions then there are those of us dealing with them....

Okay, thank you.
Are these specialists in other countries? Because here in America it is not yet recognized as a sub-specialty so therefore there are no "specialists". I have checked many of the foundations and centers here in the states and I have thus far not been able to find any medical studies, reports or write-ups stating a connection with autoimmune disorders.

Thank you for sharing the information above. I will look into your links thoroughly.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.,

It is true many with Chiari are prone to also have auto immune conditions and connective tissue disorders....most Chiari specialists will tell u that....and u should be able to locate that info online as well....but, it is easy to also find Drs that do not believe Chiari is something we need be concerned with as they feel it is asymptomatic....

I am not sure what the connection is, just know it is there...see the info on this website - http://www.chiaricare.com/Related-Disorders/Other-Related-Conditions.aspx
