Pre-Op Questions

I am scheduled, as far as I know right now, for Pre-Op testing the day before my surgery at Cleveland Clinic.  Do they keep you overnight, and what all does it concern?  I know I have to pass that to have my surgery.  Cleveland Clinic has been very poor about giving me enough answers.  I am tentaively scheduled for the Pre-Op on August 19th, but according to the registrar they MAY call me in earlier even if I do live out of state, and I won't know until a day or two before, and I won't know what time of day my surgery is until the day before. Grrrrrr!  Did anyone else having their surgery at Cleveland Clinic have this scheduling mayhem?

I was under the impression that my post-op day was Aug 18 and they were going to do blood work, EKGs, and other inital tests to make certain that I am "OK" for surgery. My post-op is 2 weeks before my surgery. I don't think I will be spending the night that night since all the tests can be done in a short amount of time. It'll definitely be a learning experience though.

Most likely it will depend upon your Dr. However, for Dr Xiao Di they sceduled :

1. Meeting with Lab for Bloodwork
2. Meeting with Cardio {Three ekg's in the 6 mos prior as other quacks suspected heart attacks.}
3. Meeting with Anestheiology {sp?}
4. Meeting with Admin [Financial]

I already had current MRI, CT scans. Then we went to Comfort Inn down the road [best rates anywhere close for CCF patients] for the night. CCF called to inform of our needed arrival time the next day. It was explained to me that they do it this way as if any signs of ill health show up during the testing they will not operate. Thus the testing then they the surgery schedule time.

Any other questions feel free to give me a holler.

Hi...sorry u r frustrated, but many of us have had to deal with delays in surgery and rescheduled surgeries...and not just at CC.....we do have a few members that went there, but I am not one of them.

Pre op testing for me included MRI'd and CT scans and blood work..even chest xrays, and I had heart palps so an echo cardiogram was also done.

What tests depend on the dr..and the hospital u r going to.They all tend to be a little diff.

U do not stay at the hosp overnight....but if it is the day b4 surgery like mine u need accommodations.
Call the person in charge of scheduling and ask about accommodations many times they have a location that offers reduced rates.
