Severe ankle pain after surgery

Ok so a you all know I have been doing so great from my posts, but yesterday and today, my ankle feels as though I have arthritis or have sprained it or broke it even with my pain meds and break through pain meds!

What could this be? Anyone have similar experience? I have not injured myself at all, definitely did not break it or sprain it....I haven't even walked that much. Any clues?

The other pain was more intense that u didn't either notice it or the chiari itself  kept u from feeling it...ur nerves r no longer pinched so  those that were r now able to send those pain signals to the brain that would not go thru b4......

I did injure my ankle before.  I broke it about 7 years ago and never got it fixed.  My urgent care person suggested that it was something regarding my nerves swelling and since all my other pain receptors were not really going off and I was feeling fine that it was probably nerve swelling which makes sense, since I tore all the ligaments and messed up a lot of nerves in that ankle and since I am on lots of nerve stuff right now and adjusting the way I am walking ect. like you are sayin Selma.... I am just in amazement that I was in soo much pain before all over and my ankle was  never a problem... and now its the only thing bothering me lol and its significant..lol go figure!

I know I walk diff now then b4...and I still use my cane, but even now compared to 1 yr post op I feel more stable on  my feet...so I am sure we use diff muscles to walk and balance.....not just our ankles , but our knees, legs, lower back.....etc

No. I haven't changed anything...and tried all extra pain killers and all...my hips were severely arthritic before and now don't hurt at  all after surgery and now all the  sudden my ankle feels broken just today and yesterday.

I think its nerve related and prednisone related

Hi Jennifer...this could be from the way u r restrained during surgery....I too had an issue, but knowing I also have EDS  I am a tad bit touchier and  it takes me longer for pains to go away even if it is just a bruise.

At this point u r most likely cutting back on pain meds too, so u may not have felt it b4....

Just a thought.
