Tonsillectomy 4 months post PFD...

Hi, everyone! I am 4 months and 2 days post-decompression surgery for Chiari 1 and syringomyelia. I have to have my tonsils removed and they're doing it next Wednesday (just got the call). I'm wondering if there is any special information I may need to provide my ENT before he does the surgery? Anything I need to be aware of before going in to this? I.e. positioning, medications, etc.  I'm pretty nervous!!! But my tonsils are constantly abscessed and the ENT says that could be a cause for headaches, not just the Chiari....

Thanks for any information you can give me!
AnnMarie

Thank you! I just called and left messages for both surgeons. Did all my pre-op stuff today. They're doing the surgery on the 25th (next Wednesday). They pushed it up because my tonsil infection is not clearing up with antibiotics and it's been a month and 3 different meds. No fun! I'm admittedly nervous about the tonsillectomy. I had a very difficulty recovery after a tooth removal and then the decompression has been extremely hard to bounce back from. So when they said surgery, I obviously paled ;)

I'll put the date up! Thanks for all the support!

Hi AnnMarie...glad to hear from u again.....and sorry to hear u r still having issues and having to go for yet another surgery.

I would make sure u let ur ENT know all about ur condition, surgery and how u responded to the meds etc....this should give him  time to ask ur NS if there is nething he need take special care with for this as far as position....the way ur head is placed could affect u, and it may not, but it is best to let them know and give him ur NS's info so he can contact him for insight.

DO u have a date for this surgery? when /if u do place it on the surgery thread : )

  Good luck <3
