prednisone

HEY ALL

My neurologist gave me prednisone for muscle pains he believes i have a pinched nerve. Any who-
he told me about some of the reactions people can have from it (jittery, energiised, inability to sleep)  and if i was one who had this reaction to stop taking them. So Saturday I started taking them first pill ehh no prob,2nd pill WOW heart was racing, and i felt jittery and then i took the 3rd pill...OMG--i felt really jumpy/jittery and i just couldnt sit still my head felt like it was constantly swaying- then bed time came and i couldnt sleep-12 o'clock, 2 o'clock,3:30,4:30,5 o'clock-- then the next thing i know it is 7:30 and i am wide awake- sunday my mouth felt itchy and so did my skin (esp neck and upper arms) ....I dont know exactly what reaction i had to that medicine but i will NOT take that again....wondering has anyone else been on this med with this reaction??

Lisa I can't remember who it was now but there was someone that posted on here not long ago about how she took them and it made her symptoms crazy. I don't think she had been dx with Chiari yet but was interested in whether she had the right symptoms. I will try and see if I can find it.
Glad you stopped taking them though..the def doesn't sound normal!

Hi Lisa...sorry I was never rx'd this med, but netime u have a reaction u should call ur dr...he needs to add it on ur file as an allergy to prevent u from getting it in the future.

Please call ur dr...mayb there is another med he can offer knowing the reaction u had.

I've taken Prednisone for years with no side effects, so I can't answer on a personal level, but if your neuro told you to stop it if you got any of the listed side effects, then I HIGHLY recommend that you stop taking it, and CALL HIM IMMEDIATELY and let him know what your reactions were. It'll help him treat your condition better.
Good luck and keep me posted,

~Dame

I have never had it, but my mom did and had pretty much the same problems. So far anything she is allergic too, i have been also, so its not one i'm willing to try. I hope they find something else that helps you! Blessings ~ Shannon
