Vertigo increased after surgery.

4 days ago I had surgery. Now I have more severe vertigo. I can do stuff I couldn't do before, such as stand in one leg but walking is hard. Is this normal? NS seems not concerned at all and says surgery went perfect. When I brough this up he said "you just had brain surgery, it's gonn take time". I am on a lot of meds. Steroids, anathesia leaving etc. is this normal? I'm weak, dizzy and my eyes are not tracking well.

Just a note about the steroids.  I was on dexamethasone and when I tapered off them  I felt an increase in symptoms, especially autonomic symptoms.  For instance if I got up too fast and walked I felt nauseas, clammy and faint.  It got better in time though and I just knew I had to take it slow.

Yeah I hear steroids can do a number.....but I was not placed on them,,so I did not have to contend with it.....

Glad to hear things are getting better....sending prayers that they continue to get better for you <3

Thanks Selma, I think things are getting better. The steriods are what are killing me I believe. Got 6 more days of them. I'm super sensitive to meds.

Hi...your Dr is right is going to take time..and as you heal you may have some symptoms return that you may not have now.....this is the nerves being released and many times get spastic and over stimulated and it can be annoying to say the least but it is part of the healing process....and it typically occurs around 3 months post op.

What you have now could be due to how your nerves were compressed...the more they were, the sooner you may notice a drastic change....

If in a week or two things have not calmed down call your Dr again....but the meds and everything that was done....keeping in mind this type of surgery is a trauma to your whole body.....

Try to relax, rest, rest and rest some more.
