worried

I actually found this site when i was searching some things that was found on a mri that my 11yr ild son had. The MRI report showed a parieto-orripital parenchymal cyst and a cerebeller tonsilliar ectopia of 3mm. We have an appointment with a Nurolgist this afternoon. This all started with my son getting sever headaches, and then he said he was getting funny feelin in his head and his eyes would dialate. He also had a couple of brief moments where we would tell him to do something like get ready for school and he would just look at us and we would have to walk him thru the steps. He even said a couple of times he just felt like his brian wasnt working right. My wif went a picked up the MRI report and decided to see what it said beofr we went to the appointment and it has got both of us very scared for our son. We have no clue what to ex[ect with this appointment. Also we live in Tn

Well the Nerologist that we went to called Wed to tell us that she didnt see anything wrong with our son and that she was dismissing him from her care. We called te Ped. and he has us scheduled with a NS at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital named DR. Noel Tulipan. Our Appointment is tomorrow morning i am just hoping to get some answers on what we need to do for my son.

Hi...since ur son is displaying symptoms, u r right to be concerned about him being active in sports at this time and to see a chiari specialist is a great idea.

Mayb with ur son going to a dr, ur SIL will change her mind and get checked.

Good luck

Well a couple of things I forgot to mention. The Dr said that my son can go back to playing sports football, and baseball. We are not sure about this and may keep him out the rest of the season. My wife was talking to her sister about what the MRI showed and her sister said that she has it also. My wife's sister works for a Orth DR and she was testing a new MRI machine out and it showed that she had CM but the ortho dr said it was nothing to worry about. Her sister refuses to go see a Dr aobut it.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

There is a very good NS in TN.......several members of the forum have been to him......his info is on our chiari specialist thread.....I will PM the info to u.
'
the herniation of the tonsils at 3 mm can be considered small or even incidential by many drs.....but it is overcrowding and CSF blockages that r important with chiari.

As a non medical person I know nothing in regards to the cyst.

Good Luck and please post an update
