Hi Lisa, as Pam indicated in her reply it depends on where the syrinx is located as to which nerves r affected......
It is also possible that the throat issues r due to related issues like a auto immune thyroid condition or something along those lines.
We all will have a diff list of symptoms with a core of similar ones.
I myself do not have a syrinx, but have had many throat issues....chiarians r prone to as I mentioned autoimmune disorders , but also connective tissue disorders too....like Ehlers-Danlos....and many with that have hiatal hernias and GERD....and that brings even more throat related issues. Then to bring in the Hashimoto's thyroiditis....it goes on till u have no idea which condition could be the root of the problem.
I am mentioning all this in case u get a reply from ur dr saying it is not the syrinx...then by all means ask well what is it....and what can u do about it?
Keep an open mind...and keep pushing for answers : )

Hello! I dont have a syrinx but do have Chiari. Alot of my issues are food getting stuck in my throat and esophageal spasms. I have been told it has to do with compression at the brain stem and the vagus nerve or cranial nerve 10. I guess the same issues with a syrinx would be possible depending on the level.
