Nerves in Neck

Today I visited with my NL, the new symptoms I been having is caused by two pinched nerves in my neck. According to her she says that when I am having my symptoms my brain swells causing the two nerves at the base of my neck to become pinched between my skull and brain. Is this even possible? Have any of you all heard of this or had this happen to you??? Any info would be appreciated.

The new symptoms are as followed: Burning sensation in my neck, scalp is to sore or tender to touch(sometimes I cant brush hair), my hands don't do as I tell them to they seem to have a mind of their own, Hard time swallowing, vision is worse, memory is failing slowly and my coordination is getting worse.

It was part of how my Dr explained to me what was going on with me....b4 my surgery...and I was having drop attacks as the swelling was causing a complete CSF obstruction for a very brief few seconds....but enuff to have me fall and injury myself,,,,I also have  a partially retroflexed odontoid which also made the space tighter ....so many variables and for each of us it may be different.

yea but still waiting to hear about the results of Cine MRI. I just did it Monday and I know around here it takes a week to get results back. I was just wondering if anyone else heard about this. I know the brain swells but I never heard of it being able to pinch the two main nerves that run from neck. But then again it is possible since our tonsils do hang below normal and if the herniation is thick I could see it happening.

Hi...I do not have this issue but I have heard that it was possible...esecially since I have bulging disks....

I do not recall if anyone posted about this tho....

The swelling is not unheard of.....did they rule out a syrinx for you?
