headaches

My doctor prescribed me topamax today.  I am already on amitriptylline 30mgs at bedtime for "migraines". I think my headaches are related to the chiari as dr shelat reproduced the pain when he put pressure on my head in a certain way.  My current md said there is interaction between amitriptylline and topamax and also compazine which i take as needed.  I do lortab for the pain, but i am afraid to take the topamax rx'd for "migraines"   i don't think they are migraines.  I was thinking i should call tci tomorrow and see if i could run this all by dr shelat or dr insigna.  When i start the topamax he told me not to take compazine, but if i don't take the compazine i can't keep the lortab down and the last time this happened (before i had compazine to take) i ended up in the emergency room from vomiting all day every 1/2 hour.  I know this is a lot of info, but i'm feeling lost.  also the triptans don't work for me.

As selma recommended I'd strongly suggest getting to a Chiari Dr and run all the meds though that one Dr.

I know some here have mentioned Topamax. If it works for them great. But personally I'd strongly recommend against that one. They had me on it and frankly my symptoms were way intensified while taking it. And yes, in my case at least, it did create depressive symptoms as well.

Hi...Deff contact Dr Insinga at TCI...I am sure u have his e-mail address....he was my NS, and was great at returning e-mail questions.

The drs at TCI r ur treating drs for ur chiari and should be sending info tour PCP so he understands what they feel u need.

It may need some doing on ur part to get this all to work together, but that is what is best for u....these drs all need to communicate.
