I am at my wits end!!! my mri came back normal which is good, but why am i in so much pain!!! this is very frustrating.
Hi, it is possible that u have a chiari related issue going on.
Were u checked for a syrinx, or tethered cord?
Many can have perm nerve damage...the surgery is not a cure, but a way to slow the progression of the condition. This can all depend on how bad ur symptoms were prior to surgery. And many continue to have the same pains as b4 surgery and others have some they never had. And yet even more have relief from many of their previous symptoms.
Try and get a second opinion from a true chiari specialist and go from there.
See our Chiari specialist thread for drs names to research.

thanks! I will look for specialist. No I was not check to see if I had syrinx or tethered cord. I it possible that it is down lower in my back and that is why I,m having pain? they have only done mri of the cervical and thoratic areas. Thanks again this forum has given me alot of info and makes me fell better to read what others have gone through i don't fell so alone.
Yeah tethered cord is usually attached in the lumbar spine and could be the reason for lower back pains, leg issues and even bowel and bladder issues.
U r welcome....as soon as u get to a true chiari specialist they will look for these related conditions.
U r never alone here : )

My daughter also has a great deal of neck, back, and even hip and knee pain. She had extensive bloodwork done that an infections disease specialist looked at and he found nothing abnormal. They finally did a spinal tap (lumbar puncture) and found her spinal fluid a mess (aeseptic meningitis) and her spinal pressure way too high. They said either one alone could cause all her pain, but both together are even worse. It was nice to find out why they believe she is in pain, but they sent her home after 4 days in the hospital with no prescription, no referral, nothing! I sincerely hope you find out the cause of your pain.
