What's sooooooo funny?

I need to focus as I get too many thoughts going on....and to focus on one thing helps keep all the other stuff out,.....and I did start doing this as a child......

Oh yeah, and it works for me : )

I will try relaxing my entire body from the bottom to the top. Great idea.

Muscle relaxers knock me out. Unfortunately, can only take them on weekends when my children are with their father. Otherwise, I am OUT for a LONG time.

LOL Selma...a Christmas tree?!?!

I will imagine my whole body getting relaxed...I will start with my big toe and imagine every little muscle relaxing, then I will go onto my foot, ankle etc..all the way up my body. This has worked well for me for years UNTIL I got the restless body feeling where I was all jittery. It didn't work b/c I didn't have command of those muscle to make them relaxed..for that honestly, nothing worked except sometimes getting up and having a hot bath. My sleeping issues for now have been rectified by the meds I am on which completely knock me out!!!

Sleep Issues have been VERY bothersome lately. I have been sleeping on a  chair at night; however, just read NOT to do this in "things not to do list". :( My back pain is terrible. Wore a backbrace in junior high for scoliosis (yeah, that and braces on my teeth were a real character builder :).... I use a bodypillow and a regular pillow and move myself around until it's comfortable. Anyone else have any more suggestions. I found the below ideas online. And I believe Selma imagines a Christmas Tree. Visual imagery has worked for me in the past.

here are some more things and when I say meds some make you stay awake .

The common causes of  difficulty in sleeping are:

1. Stress and anxiety - if the mind is too active thinking about work or health problems, you are unable to relax and fall asleep. Even worrying about getting sleep can make it difficult for a person to fall asleep.

2. Stimulants like caffeine and nicotine which are included in prescription drugs and painkillers, coffee, tea, prescription drugs

3. Changes in surroundings and daily schedule due to travel or other causes. Noise from traffic or celebrations of festivals and functions can cause sleeplessness,

4. Medical problems which cause pain or aches like toothaches or sleep apnea.

5. Eating  food late at night since the body will keep you awake as the food is digested. Hunger pangs will keep you awake if  you go to bed on an empty stomach.

6. Heredity - poor sleep can be inherited, if either of  your parents has difficulty sleeping, you are more likely to suffer from insomnia

7. Studies have shown that insomnia is more common among women and elderly people.

I ihave no problem sleeping  . It may take time to find out what is right for you as it did me. Check your meds take early before bed . Cut back on coffee and desserts at night  especially chocolate  . There are so many things that interrupt sleep . do the obvious first.  Roz

I sympathise with you both, I am also having sleep issues, was up until 04:00am this morning, I have cycles where I sleep ok but then I go for weeks where I cant sleep even with sleeping meds. I know if I stay in bed I will go crazy so I listen to soft music and try to do something to occupy my mind.

I find that when I don’t sleep the symptoms are much worse and wonder if it is caused by not sleeping or if the worsening symptoms are the reason I cant sleep.
