My wife was recently sent to a neurologist, and is awaiting her apt. She was told that it is most likely Chiari. We were wondering other than surgery, what other treatment options are there?

Hi,
I would agree with what Selma has said, the non surgical treatment is of the symptoms more than the illness itself so surgery is the most effective treatment.
Because the list of symptoms are so diverse this causes it own problems when it comes to treatment.
The goal of any treatment must be to stop the illness from progressing.

HI and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Treatments depend largely on symptoms.......but pain management is one of the main ones.....accupunture some like, but like nething u need to find a good accupuncurist.

The key is to have a chiari dr a specialist in this field to know what r the best options for ur wife....we all have diff symptoms and are at diff levels of pain......once dx'd ur wife needs to be seen by a NS.
