You really are pretty smart for thinking ahead about something that will have an emotional impact after such a critical surgery. How I stressed over this issue. I wear my hair medium length; however, before my surgery I got an inch cut off so it would possibly appear a bit thicker. Then, there are hats, hats, and more hats. The challenge will be keeping the hats on, while still being comfortable. I know I can feel warm or get itchy with hats on sometimes. For that reason, don't buy a lot, until you know how wearing a hat can feel. But, then again, have you worn hats regularly in the past?
If you have long hair, it will probably cover it up enough after surgery. You may not feel like even going out into the community for quite a while after surgery - so it may not be an issue. The recovery for decompression surgery is months, usually not weeks. So your hair will grow back considerably.
Most people that have talked about their scar say it is very sensitive and they can not handle pressure on it for weeks or months afterwards.
Hai
My name is Barbara C. Arroyo. I have recently injured with fungal attacks on my head. Doctor said me to tonsure my head for further treatments. Treatment going well and completely cured from the disease. But, I lost my hair. Because of that, I’m very uncomfortable to face strangers and not even go for any events or parties. My friend suggests me to use natural type of wigs until to get the normal hairs just for few months. Then, I’m search online for best hair traders and got “Priyankaa Hair Traders”. Order my natural hair wigs from the traders and I use it daily. The wigs are looking very natural and strengthen to use for daily. The wig’s Hair quality and smell are great. Then I started to attend events or going outside with wearing wigs. So, No worries about this. You can go on with your surgery.
I have been wondering about the whole hair thing myself-My daughter had always had very long hair, but our family doctor made us cut 10 inches off because she said it was the source of her symptoms. Then she was diagnosed with a CM of 17mm. Her hair is thick and grows VERY fast, will she ever be able to have long hair again, or would it put to much strain on her CM?
Hi :)
I think that this would be a general concern among most woman, so don't feel bad about it! I had my surgery just over a month ago and the possibility of being half bald made me very anxious, as I've had long mid-waist hair all my life! It's winter here, so I invested in a few cute beanies and loose headbands to keep warm- but I've got enough hair left for it to look convincing even if I don't wear anything. Hope this helps! All the best for your surgery :) x
Hi..depending on the length of ur hair it may not be an issue....plus I would never have been able to wear a wig post op as I feel it would have been too much.
My hair is longer, and I was able to hide it well...and I wore a loose hat as we r not to allow the sun to burn the scar....so my hat and my hair hid it that a wig was not something I needed.
I think all of us woman are concerned about our hair as it is a big part of who we are....
Each Dr is different in how much they shave so talk with ur Dr.
