5yr old fears being alone

Since we were burgled 6mths ago my 5yr old son has developed a fear of being alone. He follows me round the house constantly and gets upset at bedtime. He shares his bedroom, but his younger brother is asleep when he goes to bed. I have tried sympathising, reassuring and even being firm, but nothing makes a difference. How can I help him to feel safe again in his own home again?

It may just take time.  My son saw those Broadview Security commercials on TV where a burglar breaks in and he was scared to be alone some too after that and he has not experienced firsthand a burglary.  I would just be empathetic to him and give him time to get over it.
