add and odd

My 10 tear old daughter is being treated with adderoll for add.
In addition she was given effexor for depression, which made her completly out of control. Myself as well as her school, her counselor and other parents have thought all along that she has fit the description of an odd person. She defies everything and everyone no matter there age and when given the effexor, she was out of control. I took her off a weak ago, with a little improvement. I have researched on my own about odd and have applied some technices that i have read, with little improvement.
Is this condition treatable with medication along with behavior managment? She is making her life so misarable and sometimes I am at a total loss with what to do with her or for her. She occasionally gets violent, speaks rudely to everyone and respects NO authority figure. I had cmv virus when I was pregnant with her and she too had at birth but tested clear a month later, I was not given much info on it at the time, but i am wondering if it has anything to do with her behavior. Someone please email me with info or recomondations on oppositional defient disorder, I am afraid for her future at this rate. Thank you so much!....kim

My 4 soon to be five year old daughter has got to have odd and I have been actively seeking treatment for her for the past year and a half. She has a twin brother that is mildly autistic.  She just got kicked out of her second pre-school this past week. I think that we may be able to finally put her in a special day class.  I had premature rupture of membranes and had gotten an infection and the twins were delivered by c-section at 31 weeks.I wonder if there is something that occured during their traumatic birth that has caused problems for both of my children.   It is very difficult on our family to have a child with this problem she wont listen to anyone and defies all authority she has no fear of punishment or consiquences for her actions.  She also likes to go into Animal mode and she acts like a cat or a dog.  She use to pull her pants down and wet on the floor.  My husband and I are at a loss and so are our other 3 older children 18, 16, and 15.  This is ripping our family apart.  We have taken her to 2 psychologists and she has been seen at stanford for a possable seizure disorder. She was recently prescribed aderall but it doesn't seem to be helping.  I would love some feed back from anyone who's been there

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I FELT LIKE I WAS READING SOMETHING I WROTE.
PLEASE EMAIL ME AT.....***@**** WOULD LOVE TO COMPARE AND EXCHANGE THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT, I HAVE MY DAUGHTER IN A DAILY PROGRAM RIGHT NOW I WOULD LOVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT, BUT AM VERY INTRESTED IN THE CMV THING, I AM ALMOST CONVINCED IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT BECAUSE MY OBSTETRICIAN TOLD ME THAT IT COULD CAUSE A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS INCLUDING CERABAL PALSY (WHICH HIS DAUGHTER HAD AND HIS WIFE TOO HAD CMV)....VERY INTRESTING!
I FEEL IF IT CAN CAUSE THAT, IT IS SOMEHOW CONNECTED TO THIS DISORDER WHICH I CAN DATE BACK TO HER INFANCY, JUST DIFFERENT DISPLAYS OF IT WITH HER AGE PROGRESSION. ANYWAY, EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW YOU GOT THIS MESSAGE AND I WILL WRITE BACK TO YOU AS SOON AS I GET IT, AGAIN, I AM SOOO THRILLED TO HEAR FROM YOU ESPECIALLY WITH THE FACT OF THE CMV IN COMMON! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Ms. Snow,

Opositional Defiant Disorder is best addressed via a program of systematic behavior management, at home and in school. But medication can, at times, be useful. Medications which might be considered are Clonidine and the SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors - a class of antidepressant medications).
