Uncontrolable Tantrums at 3 yrs

by mmonsalve, Dec 30, 2008 11:15AM
My son is going to be 3 in January and has uncontrolable tantrums and I don't want to "beat" or "whip" him. We have a history from my side of uncontrolable tantrums and I think it's in the genes, but I don't want it to be the excuse for his behavior. He wears me out when we are outside. I need some help! Should we see a psychologist?

When your son has a temper tantrum, step back and let him throw it.  Do not give him any attention and do not show any emotion toward it.  Sometimes children play off the behavior of how the adult acts while the child has a temper tantrum.  Could be attention or it could be that he is just so frustrated.  He has to learn to deal with his frustration himself.
