I was diagnosed on Monday with Chlamydia. Before being diagnosed my doctor had started me on a 7 day Flagyl regiment because it was thought that I had contracted Bacterial Vaginosis. After getting my lab results I was immediately put on Zithromax( 1 dose, 1 gm) which I took that same day(Monday). It had now been two days and the odor from my vaginal discharge has only worsended along with my symptoms(itching, discomfort, some burning). Is this because the Flagyl I had taken for a week prior to my diagnosis, had muted the symptoms from the Chlamydia? My boyfriend was also treated for the STD. Does taking flagyl create a more fierce outbreak? My boyfriend and i are following the doctors rules and have not had any sexual contact, but did prior to the diagnosis and after I finished taking the 7 days of Flagyl. Basically I am worried that this antibotic (antibiotic) isn't working. I know it has only been 2 days but my symptoms arent getting better they are getting worst...HELP!

The standard patient getting better for chlamydia is charcaterized by getting well especially by the beginning of the second week post-treatment, sounds like this is what the flagyl did or was doing, but something is inconsistent as your symptoms came back, maybe its all in the mind with hearing you were diagnosed with it as STDs have a pycological component.  Work with your doctor in  1 week if you aren't feeling better, That 1 gram zithro you took should do the trick.

In researching the drug flagyl, it is not an effective treatment for chlaymida. is it possible that i will get worst before i get better? is the zithromax causing my body to expell all of the bacteria and infection via discharge? Also is there anything i can do naturally, i.e yogart, or any probiotics, that will enhance my recovery rate?

Nothing natural will help. Often discharge happens for anywhere from 1-2 weeks after medication due to the body expelling it.

Really, nobody knows the answer to your first question, but anticpate to get better with your recent treatment.

When an antibiotic is given and kills the bacteria, the dead bacterial matter is excreted through fecal wastes (part of immune system --its a long process), and yes as mentioned some via discharge.
