Is it an STD? Totally Freaking Out!!!

Is it an STD? Totally Freaking Out!!!

I had unprotected oral sex with a sex worker about a month ago and as of three days ago started noticing the following symptoms:

I have a slight tingling sensation in the head and urethra of my penis.
It burned ever so slightly a couple of times when i urinated. Not at all times.
I have been urinating very frequently, even getting up at night, which i never do. I also have the sensation of wanting to urinate quite often. I have lots of urine at times and others times very little.
I have had no discharge whatsoever from the head of my penis.

I have been to a clinic today to get a urine analysis done for Chlam. and Gon. but was told i had to wait two weeks for the results. I am totally freaking out and would like to know whether in your opinion you feel this could be an std.

I had penile worts while in my twenties that were located in the urethra and there is some scar tissue. This has caused various burning etc. sensations in the past and when i have a lot of sex i especially get such sensations.

Pls. help!!!!

Sounds like this could be a urinary tract infection.  Did your doctor do a urine sample for a UTI?  I would hold off on sex until you get your chlamydia and gonorrhea tests back though.  If your symptoms persist, I would see a doctor to see what's going on.
Good luck,
Em

Thanks for your comments Emma. I've been meaning to get back to you for a couple of days but have really been trying to pull myself together. I started a cranberry juice and lots of fluid regimen as of the day of your post to me, because i heard this can clear UTI in women. Anyway, all the symptoms seemed to have cleared as of yesterday with the exception of a small "feeling" "pain" in the very tip of my penis. Basically at the very opening, which to be honest i think is phycosematic, i know the spelling is wrong and haven't got the time or patience to rectify. I still have no discharge and the feeling of wanted to urinate, urinating often and the tingling sensation have all cleared. Essentially, i only really had any symptoms to talk of for about 21/2 days. What do you think?

Based on my frantic reading of this site in the last few days, it seems as if i really only had UTI but again i need someone else to confirm my theory for reassurance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

2 weeks?  That's a long time.  I would call in a week, "just to check".

Also, since you are symptomatic, someone should be treating you with something.  Maybe another visit is in order.

At least call and see what they think about it being a UTI vs an STD, and find out if they think its a UTI, do they treat that as well, or will you be referred to another doctor.

Thanks AJ I will definitely follow up with the clinc. I guess they don't treat till they find out what it is.

btw, as of this morning, the symptoms have now completely cleared and i have no sensations in my penis at all. I assume the bacteria or whatever it was has been gotten rid of. I have been drinking fluids like crazy over the last few days in an effort to flush the system. I was thinking of going to another walkin clinic today to get some antibiotics just in case. At least i gave the test samples while the symptoms were present. Do you think i should treat for UTI or should i ask the doc for the full spectrum as if i had an std. Are there any risks with taking any of these drugs?

If your symptoms have totally cleared, just wait for the results now.  No need to treat if you are better.

thanks again AJ. That was my ultimate conclusion as well. I appreciate the prompt help. It's been a very rough week on the old psyche.
