is it a yeast infection?

by 123412341234, Jul 29, 2009 02:32PM
last year i was tested and came out positive for chlamydia, and then was cured with antibiotics for it. a few months later i started getting an irritation on my genitals that was itchy, and when i itched it, it became red swollen and small red bumps appeared. the bumps went away within a few hours, and the bumps and irritation only come back when i itch. my discharge has also been abnormal with the irritation, and it has been white and somewhat like cottage cheese as they say. is this a yeast infection or could it be an std? i have been sexually active after i was cured, so i just want to be safe.

It sounds like a classic yeast infection to me.  Antibiotics can definitely cause yeast infections.  Of course you need to see a doctor for proper diagnosis.  But if it was me, I would try an OTC yeast medication.  I have to say though that self-medicating is not recommended.  And yeast can affect men as well so use of condoms is strictly recommended.

Yes it does sound like a yeast infection. Best to go for an exam for testing and treatment.
