How to tell how much time my dog has left?

My almost 15 yr old beagle who ways about 17 pounds was diagnosed with kidney failure 3 years ago.  She was put on some sort of antibiotic and given a special diet of KD. She had a very bad bout 2 years ago and almost died but was again given antibiotics and also some type of pill for her stomach and somehow bounced back.  In January she got very ill while staying at the kennel run by our vets. She had just been put on Vetoryl for Cushings and was vomiting with diarrhea. Previously she had a few seizures, was having tremors, drinking excessively and frequent urinating, and having accidents.  The vet felt this was due to her Cushngs. They had her on IV fluids and she once again rebounded. I decided to not give her anymore of the Vetorly as she was on the lowest dosage and the vet felt that was what made her ill.

Now within the last week she has vomited bile three times, not eaten her food at times (then wants to and eats it all up), having more and longer tremors, sleeping much more, low energy.
She still wags her tail and can walk fine, going out to do her business with no issues as of yet. Her breath stinks bad and I now have her wearing doggie diapers because she has leaked out while sleeping on our bed multiple times.  My husband is not ready to even think of putting her down because she still seems happy and wags her tail. I can see a marked change in her in just the last few weeks. She used to want to eat every few hours and would jump off the bed and run to show you her bowl. She was eating dry KD with wet ID (tiny bit of each) but now refuses the KD. We give her a very tiny amount of dry kibble with the wet ID. She refused the wet ID a few times.
Today she ate once at 10 am and at first refused it. She slept all day showing no sign of wanting to get up off my bed so I picked her up and put her out to do her business after 7 pm and when she came in she went running to her bowl and ate up all the food. She seemed peppy for about 30 minutes, even barking at my husband for his dinner. She is now sleeping again on our bed. I also have noticed the past two-three nights she is sleeping against us where she normally sleeps at the end of the bed. I feel as if she is slipping away. My dilemma is I am leaving on a trip to see my parents with my sister in two days and my husband is joining us Wednesday. We have to go as my mom has Alzheimers and we need to check on her and my dad. Also my daughter an family are joining us next week. Sophie is supposed to go to the kennel tomorrow.
I feel as if we should call the vet tomorrow to get her in and see what her numbers are. On one hand I am so afraid she will die while we are away and I hate the thought of leaving her. I do not want to put her down too early but feel if she is at the end would rather do it while I am still here.
This is the worst thing ever to go through with a beloved pet. My husband and I both know deep down it is coming and we are not ready! Is there any way to tell roughly how long she has left? She has already defied the odds living with this and Cushing's disease as long as she has.

I am so sorry, your thread slipped through the net somehow and I missed it ... what happened with the trip and how are things now?
