How Are We All Doing?

The User Group has been fairly quiet of late and I'm never really sure whether that's a good or disconcerting thing. So just to check ... how are we all doing today?

Hi Tony,
This morning Joshua passed away... although we had gotten his kidney function under control, we found out yesterday his hemoglobin was extremely low. The cause is unknown. Instead of doing a blood transfusion, I knew he was ready to go. I knew Joshua was sick of vet visits and I didn't want him to suffer anymore... I stayed with him until he left this earth. I am extremely heart broken and I am bursting with tears as I type this. But I came here because I never forgot how you treated me. You always made an effort to comment on my posts. Thank you so much for that...

I am so very sorry. It's heartbreaking when the end day arrives, and it's the same inevitability for all of us. The low hemoglobin is not untypical. Many dogs suffer from anaemia as a direct result of kidney failure, particularly in its later stages.

I think you have done the kindest and most generous thing, despite knowing how hard it is. It is the most selfless thing we can do for our dogs when the time comes. Grief is a very personal emotion, but I have found it is that much more intense when we lose our special loyal and loving friends.

I do know though that if Joshua could say it, he would thank you for all you have done, for sharing his life with him, for the adventures you gave him and the love, care and devotion you provided. What dog could ask for more.

Take care - and come back any time you like or need to, to talk and maybe to offer others some of the expert knowledge you have gained throughout this journey.

Tony
I am so sorry for your loss. I went through this very same thing in October of 2015 with my beloved Bella and like you was bursting with tears every moment of every day. Its been almost 7 months now and now we are able to remember her with love and smiles . Nut boy, what a long road.......You are not alone and take each day as it comes...thinking of you.
Sorry, this should read: But boy, what a long road...so sorry for the typo.
