awakened by mucus

I am unable to get 4 hrs. continuous sleep because i wake up to relieve the green and yellowish mucus.  I went for a sleep study and was told i have severe sleep apthnea @ 43 eposides per hr....I think it is only because of my severe mucus problem..i am 63yrs old and seems the problem is getting worse every year....also i have been gaining weight over the last 5 yrs. also....I know of no-one who has this problem....I have been on Prevacid for at least 7 yrs now...i do have very bad acid reflux...but the Prevacid cured that but i think it has caused me to have the green mucus problem..Could the medicine have changed or disturbed the way my body used to be.[NORMAL.]
I now have no energy at all and no reason to hardly get out of bed.....severe depression has set in and now i am not getting exercise....I used to be 10yrs. ago an athelete...now i am obese and obsolete...sos help!!!!!!!  GREG O.

I agree with the previous poster, can I also mention how important even though hard, it is to get up and move about as much as possible....laying in bed will worsen the fluid and  mucous build up....and can lead to pneumonia if not careful. Also a green color can(does) indicate infection....very important to get this checked out asap.
good luck♥

First off, you need to raise the head of the bed with blocks a few inches.  You also need to see a gastro doctor to make sure that your reflux is being treated properly.  And, yes, this can cause some mucus problems.  Hopefully, you're not smoking, as you know that can cause major mucus problems, too.

It is very very important for your sleep apnea to be treated.  They usually put people with sleep apnea on a CPAP machine.  All of those episodes of apnea can cause your blood pressure to go very high and cause your heart rate to increase big time.  This really can be dangerous.  You'll feel a whole lot better once these apnea episodes are stopped.

Good luck to you.
